User Manual — Meg - AI Companions (English)
1. What this HUD does
A HUD that lets you have natural conversations with 10 AI characters.
- 10 characters, each with a distinct personality and voice
bratty, caring, tsundere, cool, refined, innocent, wild... - Remembers your conversations
Next time you talk, it picks up where you left off. - Scene-aware: stays quiet when several people are talking
Doesn't interrupt the flow; only replies when appropriate. - Multilingual
English, Japanese, and many other languages (auto-detected
from the language you speak in). - Two modes (PG / Adult), switchable on the fly
PG for public or family-friendly settings; Adult for
grown-up roleplay. - AFK support
While you're away, the AI can chat with visitors on its own. - Multiple HUDs, one memory
Wear the same character from a Fatpack or a Single — the
conversation continues from the same place.
2. How it works (overview)
Your message travels along this path:
Your input
↓
HUD (worn by you)
↓
Meg's server (Japan)
↓
External language model (United States)
↓
Reply comes back
Replies typically arrive within a few seconds. Everything is text-based (no voice, no images). For details on how your data is handled, see the included Privacy Policy notecard.
3. Quick Start
3-1. Talking to the AI yourself (Owner mode)
- You can wear this HUD on your main avatar, or on an alt (sub-account). Worn on your main, you can chat with the AI yourself. Worn on an alt, you can roleplay between your own two avatars.
- Add the HUD from your inventory.
- A dialog with buttons appears within a few seconds. -> press "Pick owner".
- From the candidate list, pick your own avatar name.
- Choose a character to use.
- Choose what name the AI will respond to (the character's name, the wearing avatar's display name, or a custom name you type in).
- Setup complete. A text input box appears on screen.
- Type something into the box and press Enter -> the reply arrives in a few seconds. -> On your first conversation, the AI will ask what you'd like to be called. Tell it whatever you prefer (babe, honey, Master, your first name, or even Japanese honorifics like お兄ちゃん / お姉ちゃん) and it will use that from then on.
For everyday use, click the HUD to bring the input box back. You can also chat in local chat with "/3 hello" — the /3 channel is wearer-only.
3-2. Letting visitors chat while you're AFK (AFK mode)
- Add the HUD from your inventory.
- On the setup dialog, press "AFK".
- Choose a character to use.
- Choose what name the AI will respond to (character name, display name, or custom).
- Setup complete.
- Sit on a chair, bed, or other furniture where guests can join you.
- When another avatar sits on the same object as you, the AI greets them and shows them a private input box.
- The visitor types into that box, and the AI replies. You can stay away from keyboard — the AI handles it.
4. What's in the package
- The HUD itself (the attachment containing the scripts)
- User Manual (this notecard / 6 language versions: JP, EN, DE, FR, PT-BR, ES)
- Privacy Policy (notecard, Japanese and English in parallel)
- Vendor image (the product's promotional artwork)
- User survey invitation (notecard)
The number of characters available, and the included turns, depend on the product you bought:
- Single (1 character) ... 1 character + 1,500 turns
- Male Cast (3 male chars) ... 3 characters + 2,500 turns
- Female Cast (7 female chars)... 7 characters + 5,000 turns
- Fatpack (all 10 characters) ... 10 characters + 7,500 turns
- DEMO version ... all 10 characters + 100 turns
One exchange (your message and the AI's reply) counts as 1 turn. You can add more turns from a Top-up vendor (see §10).
5. Wearing and Setup (in detail)
Right after you first wear the HUD (and any time you run the "!setup" command), a 4-step dialog appears. Here's what each step means.
Note: "How you'd like to be called" (babe, Master, お兄ちゃん, etc.) is NOT selected in Setup. The AI asks you directly during your first conversation (see §6).
[Step 1] Owner mode — "Whose HUD is this acting as?"
- "Pick owner" You play with the HUD yourself, alone or together with your alt.
- "AFK" The HUD acts on behalf of visitors while you are away. You are treated as "absent".
- "Cancel" Aborts setup.
[Step 2] Pick your owner (Pick owner mode only)
A list of avatars within 20m around you is shown, with the wearer included. Avatars are paginated 10 at a time; press "Next >" to see the next page.
If you're wearing the HUD on your main and playing alone, pick your own avatar name here. If you're wearing it on an alt, picking your main avatar name makes alt-to-main roleplay easier.
[Step 3] Choose a character
A list of characters available in your product is shown. Pick one.
You can switch characters later anytime with the "!c" command (see §7).
[Step 4] AI name — what to call the AI
Choose what to call the AI. This is also the wake word people use to address it in local chat.
- Pick the character's name (e.g., "Mei") Standard. The AI responds when you say "Mei".
- Pick the wearer's (or alt's) display name The AI uses the wearing avatar's display name as its own. Use this when you want the AI to feel like an extension of yourself (or your alt).
- "Custom..." — type your own name Opens a textbox where you can type any name (max 32 characters). Useful when your display name contains special characters (hearts, decorative fonts, etc.) that are hard for others to type as a wake word, or when you want a shorter nickname. Note: If you submit blank input or press X to close the textbox, the AI name falls back to the character name.
6. Having a conversation
Your first conversation — the AI asks how to call you
Right after Setup, the first time you talk to the AI, it will ask "What would you like me to call you?"
Tell it whatever you prefer. Anything works:
- babe / honey / love / sweetie / darling
- Master / Sir / Madam
- your first name (e.g., "Megumi" or "Meg")
- Japanese honorifics like お兄ちゃん / お姉ちゃん / お兄さま / お姉さま / ご主人様 / マスター
- anything else you prefer
Once you tell the AI, it remembers and uses that address in every conversation that follows.
Changing how the AI calls you
Mid-conversation, just say something like "actually, please call me Master" or "I'd prefer babe instead", and the AI will switch immediately. You can change as many times as you like.
No special command needed — just say it naturally.
There are two ways to chat
(A) HUD click -> input box
- Click the HUD on your screen to open the textbox.
- Anything typed into the textbox (and the AI's reply) is private — nobody nearby can see it.
- Available to the wearer and to the Owner set up in §5.
- After the AI replies, the textbox opens again.
(B) Local chat
- For the first message, address the AI by the name you chose in Setup step 4 — for example, "Hi Mei" or "Hey Mei, how was your day?".
- After that, you can keep chatting without using the name — the AI auto-detects that you're still talking to it.
- Auto-detection times out after 10 minutes of silence.
- This conversation is visible to others nearby.
Conversations with visitors
In Pick Owner mode, if a visitor speaks in local chat and addresses the AI by the name you chose in Setup step 4 (for example, "Hi Mei"), the AI replies.
For the next 10 minutes, the visitor can keep chatting without using the name — the AI auto-detects that they're still addressing it. The AI is scene-aware: even during this window, it may stay silent if a message doesn't seem directed at it.
For AFK mode behavior, see §11.
7. Switching characters
The "!c" command opens the character-switch dialog.
In the textbox: !c In chat: /3 !c
When you switch, the conversation resumes from where you last left off with that character. Each character keeps a separate history, so switching with "!c" mid-conversation ends the current thread and starts (or continues) the one belonging to the new character.
8. PG mode and Adult mode
By default, the HUD runs in Adult mode (replies may include content appropriate for grown-up roleplay).
/3 !pg on
- > PG mode ON. Replies become family-friendly; adult content is filtered out. Useful for workplace-style scenes, PG regions, or innocent characters like Hime and Riku.
/3 !pg off
- > Returns to Adult mode.
Tip: After switching from PG back to Adult, the AI may take a while to fully shift tone because the recent PG history still influences it. To switch immediately, clear the history with "/3 !reset" once.
9. How memory works
Conversation memory is stored on the server. The storage unit is "per owner x per character". The address you set for the AI (Master, お兄ちゃん, etc.) is also stored as part of each character's memory.
[Example 1] You use both Mei and Yuna.
- > Mei's memory and Yuna's memory are separate. The address you set is also separate (e.g., Mei = "Master", Yuna = "darling").
[Example 2] You own both a Fatpack HUD and a Single Mei HUD.
- > Same "you x Mei" pair, so the memory is shared. Whichever HUD you wear, it's the same single history.
[Example 3] You transfer a HUD to someone else.
- > Your memory does not carry over. The new owner starts from a blank slate. (The AI will ask them how to be called too.)
Erasing history
/3 !reset
- > Erases just the current character x you history. (Address preference is also cleared; the AI will ask again next time.)
/3 !reset all
- > Erases ALL history on this HUD (every character, including visitor conversations. Confirmation dialog shown.)
/3 !forget <visitor's username>
- > Erases the specified visitor's history across all characters (confirmation dialog shown). Example: /3 !forget naomichanxx
10. Turn balance and Top-up
How turns work
One exchange (your message + the AI's reply) = 1 turn. For the initial turn count per product, see §4. The HUD shows your remaining balance after every reply.
To check the balance anytime, use "/3 !s" for a status display.
Adding turns (Top-up)
When you run out, buy more turns from the Top-up vendor at the Meg - Scripted Essentials main store.
- Standard ... +1,500 turns
- Large ... +3,100 turns
- Extra ... +6,300 turns
If you own multiple HUDs (Single, Fatpack, etc.), turns are shared across them at the owner level. Every HUD you wear draws from the same pool.
WARNING: Top-up vendors are main-store only (they are not sold on the Marketplace).
Migrating from DEMO to a full product
When you've used up your 100 DEMO turns, buy a Single, Bundle, or Fatpack to continue. As long as the DEMO owner and the full-product owner are the same avatar, your DEMO-era conversation history carries over to the full product automatically.
11. Using AFK mode (in detail)
How it works
- The wearer (you) sits on an SL object (chair, bed, etc.).
- When another avatar sits on the same object as you, the AI recognizes them as a visitor.
- The visitor sees a greeting and a private input box.
- Whatever they type there gets a reply from the AI.
- The visitor's conversation is not visible to others (it's a private exchange).
In AFK mode, normal local chat (channel 0) is ignored. This is by design — privacy protection that keeps visitor-AI exchanges confined to the dedicated input box.
Continuing the conversation
The visitor and the AI can keep chatting freely. However, if the visitor goes silent for more than 10 minutes, the session resets — the next message starts again with a greeting.
That said, the visitor's history is still saved. So the next time the same visitor returns, the AI continues to chat based on what was said before.
12. Privacy and SL policy

- > Detach the HUD and wear it again
- > Right-click the HUD in inventory -> "Reset Scripts"
[Says "Out of turns"]
- > Buy more turns at the main-store Top-up vendor
[Setup dialog doesn't appear]
- > Try clicking the HUD
- > /3 !setup to start setup again
[Visitor doesn't get a reply (AFK mode)]
- > Check that the visitor is sitting on the same object as you (chair, bed, etc.)
- > In AFK mode, local chat is ignored — visitors must use the private input box
[Visitor doesn't get a reply (normal mode)]
- > Check that the visitor included the character or avatar name when speaking
- > The AI is scene-aware: it may stay silent even when someone is speaking, if the message doesn't seem directed at it
[Tone is off / PG -> Adult switch keeps PG tone]
- > /3 !reset to clear the history
[Your preferred address isn't being used by the AI]
- > Try saying it again clearly (e.g., "please call me Master", "I'd like you to call me babe")
- > If it still doesn't take, run /3 !reset once to clear history — the AI will ask again how to call you
[Says "Network error" / "Server temporarily unavailable"]
- > Wait a few minutes and try again
- > If it persists, IM Megumi Clover
[Other]
- > Send a notecard to Megumi Clover (see §15)
